Real Records. Real Dance Floor. No Laptop.
DJ Misha is a San Diego vinyl-only DJ for weddings, parties and corporate events. Every set is mixed live on two turntables from a huge, hand-picked collection of vinyl records. No laptop, no playlist, no digital files, just pure vinyl, the way DJing was always meant to be.

Why Hire a Vinyl DJ for Your Event?
Vinyl has made a real comeback, and guests feel the difference the moment they see two turntables and a crate of records. Here is why hosts choose a vinyl record only DJ set:
- A show, not just sound. Guests watch records get cued and blended live. The turntables become a focal point and a conversation starter.
- Warm, full analog sound. Real records, played through a high quality sound system.
- Curated, not generic. Every record in the collection was chosen for the dance floor.
- A party that stands out. Your night won't sound like every other laptop set.
- Built to make people dance. Dance music is DJ Misha's specialty, and he has the collection and the mixing experience to fill a dance floor.
- A DJ you can trust with the room. You choose the sound, and DJ Misha chooses the records. Handing over that control is what makes a vinyl-only set feel the way it does.
His music got everyone on the dance floor, and we were there for hours! It was so much fun!

Meet DJ Misha: Vinyl Collector, Dance Music DJ
I've collected enough vinyl to make a dance party all on its own, and I have a lot of experience mixing records. I know what a great vinyl DJ set sounds like, and as a dance music DJ first, I know how to make a room move. That is why a vinyl records set from me fills the dance floor instead of just looking cool.

What Music Does a Vinyl Records DJ Play?
Vinyl-only doesn't mean a narrow sound. Records from every generation fill the collection:
- Disco and Nu-Disco Classics. The records that built the dance floor.
- 80s Hits and New Wave. The singalongs everyone knows.
- Glam Rock Floor-Fillers. Big, loud and fun.
- Pop Hits Through the Decades. The songs your guests actually want to hear.
- 2000s-Era Dance and Pop Records. Throwback favorites from the early 2000s dance floor.
- Deep House. Smooth, warm grooves for cocktail hour and late-night sets.
- Vocal House Jams. Soulful vocals over a four-on-the-floor beat.
- Disco House and Funky House. Where the night peaks.
- And so much more...
Tell us which of these you love, and DJ Misha will build the night from the records in the collection.
What Does It Mean to Be a Vinyl-Only DJ?
A vinyl DJ doesn't have an unlimited music library, and that is the point. DJ Misha brings a hand-picked collection of records and builds your night from it. Deciding what earns a place in the collection, then sequencing it so the energy never drops, is a skill, an art and a science. It is the opposite of a laptop DJ set.
Limitation drives intention. Each track earns its place over a long collection, and that is the whole experience.
Misha was great to work with. We told him the vibe we were looking for and then we played an amazing 4 hour set without any direction needed from us. Had all the people dancing. 10/10

Plan Your Set, Then Trust the DJ
Every vinyl set starts with a consultation. We talk through your event, your guests and the genres and eras you love, and we look at which of them live in the collection.
Then you hand the night over to DJ Misha. That handoff is the heart of a vinyl-only set. You are booking a selector, not a playlist. He chooses each record from the collection he brings, one at a time, and reads the room as the night unfolds. That is why there are no song-by-song requests on the night. Guests who book this experience are choosing exactly that: a night shaped by the DJ's taste, skill and instinct, with the sound you love as the starting point.
You choose the sound. DJ Misha chooses the records.
What It Takes to Hire a Vinyl DJ
A vinyl record only DJ set needs real DJ hardware, and a turntable setup isn't easy to arrange these days. DJ Misha has all of the equipment and brings it to your event. If someone else is providing the equipment, we work directly with that vendor.
The minimum for a vinyl set:
- A powerful sound system that really bumps
- Two turntables
- A solid DJ mixer
- Needles
- A sturdy, level table away from the speakers (bass vibration is what makes records skip, so we confirm the setup with you during planning)
Where We Play: San Diego, Southern California and Destinations
DJ Misha is based in San Diego and plays across the county, including downtown, La Jolla, Coronado, Del Mar, Encinitas, Carlsbad, Oceanside and Temecula. We also travel throughout Southern California, including Orange County, Los Angeles and Palm Springs, and to destination events anywhere. Records travel too, and for destination events we plan the equipment details with your venue or planner ahead of time. Learn more about our destination wedding DJ services.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a vinyl DJ?
A vinyl DJ performs live using turntables and physical vinyl records instead of a laptop or digital files, blending tracks by ear and by hand.
What does a vinyl record only DJ set mean?
Every song is played from a vinyl record. No laptop, no streaming and no digital files.
What music does DJ Misha play on vinyl?
Disco, 80s, glam rock, pop hits, 2000s-era records, disco house, vocal house, funky house and deep house, with records from every generation.
Can I make song requests?
Not on the night. A vinyl DJ can only play the records in the collection, and trusting the DJ to choose from them is part of the experience. Before the event, a consultation covers the genres and eras you love, and DJ Misha builds the night from there.
Who chooses the music at a vinyl DJ set?
DJ Misha does. We use the consultation to learn the sound you want, then he selects and sequences every record live. You choose the sound; DJ Misha chooses the records.
Do you only play vinyl?
Yes. Every set booked through this page is 100% vinyl. If you would rather have a full digital library and live requests, our standard San Diego DJ services are the better fit.
What equipment does DJ Misha bring?
The complete setup: a sound system, two turntables, a mixer and needles. If your venue or production company is supplying equipment, we coordinate with them directly.
What does the venue need to provide?
Power and space. We confirm the DJ table setup during planning, since vinyl needs a sturdy, level surface away from the speakers.
Will the record skip?
A sturdy, level table placed away from the speakers keeps records tracking cleanly. DJ Misha has a lot of experience mixing records and knows how to prevent and troubleshoot issues when they happen.
Do you travel for destination events?
Yes. See our destination wedding DJ page for how planning and travel work.
How far ahead should I book?
Popular dates fill early, so check your date as soon as it`s set.
Ready for a Vinyl-Only Night?
Tell us about your event and DJ Misha will let you know if your date is open. If handing the night to a vinyl selector sounds like your kind of party, we would love to hear from you.
